Actually I tend to assume this is a pretty standard configuration, except if Ubuntu is used infrequently to host Samba. > Thanks, JoachimStill sounds like a repo problem, can you post your sources.list and the sources list for Louis's repo Did you run 'apt update', then 'apt upgrade, then 'apt dist-upgrade' ? When you try to upgrade from the Ubuntu Samba to Louis's Samba, the actual 'samba' package isn't upgraded: The following packages will be upgraded: ? libldb2 libnss-winbind libpam-winbind libsmbclient libwbclient0 python3-ldb ? python3-samba samba-common samba-common-bin samba-dsdb-modules samba-libs ? winbind Going off to read about 'apt pinning' to see if this will help. Louis's repo and here: http://apt.van-belle.nl/debian/dists/focal-samba412/main/binary-amd64/Packages There doesn't seem to be a 'samba' package, but here: http://apt.van-belle.nl/debian/dists/buster-samba412/main/binary-amd64/Packages There is. Looks like we will have to wait until Louis fixes it, if there is something to fix. Rowland
