Hi everyone, I would like to understand why "variable substitutions" don't expand from ldap anymore. Jerry Carter answered me that it is due to conflicts with client side environnement variable. But these substitutions are done on the server side, so what's the problem with client side ??? It was a great feature, i don't know why a so practical thing has been removed. It would be also nice to specify in the smb.conf.man in the "variable substitution" chapter. cheers, eric

The variable syntax is ambiguous for things like %L (Samba var) and %LOGONSERVER% (Win32 var). If you want the old behavior (expand variables in passdb entries, see the 'passdb expand explicit' option in smb.conf(5). cheers, jerry ====================================================================Samba ------- http://www.samba.org Centeris ----------- http://www.centeris.com "What man is a man who does not make the world better?" --Balian -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.4 (MingW32) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFE+C2NIR7qMdg1EfYRAoIsAJ4zsRg342wllcFoOSQLva2VPJ0axQCgoUxy rjslPtCHO1j886otVPU+7ew=DrMR -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
