hello, i'm a newbie on this list, greetings to all here. i have a Debian Woody, with Samba 2.2.3a. i had a problem with that: when there comes a Windows XP, it can't browse the share's of Samba server. ok, i upgraded to 2.2.8a from source - the problem was resolved. after this, customers says, windows's can't browse between itself. forexample, there are three printers, printers are shared, but if an another windows wants to install that printer, that windows says: permission denied. the permission of printers is _full_controll_to_everybody_, local and domain users also. it looks like windows clients (2000/XP) don't use the samba's directory. (if i look the 'set' command in windows, i see the value of logonserver parameter is the name of windows machine.) is it a know problem/bug, or is it my ignorance? what may the problem? and one thing: when i downgraded to samba-2.2.3a, this problem with this config leave off.... here is a part of smb.conf: [global] netbios name = SERVER workgroup = DOMAIN domain logons = yes server string = Samba %v log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m lock directory = /var/lock/samba interfaces = 192.168.113.1/24 127.0.0.1/8 bind interfaces only = yes local master = yes os level = 34 domain master = yes preferred master = yes encrypt passwords = true log level = 7 security = domain client code page = 852 character set = ISO8859-2 admin users = amitadm root domain admin group = root amitadm wins support = yes name resolve order = wins lmhosts unix password sync = yes passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u passwd chat debug = yes passwd chat = *Enter\snew\sUNIX\spassword:* %n\n %*Retype\snew\sUNIX\spassword:* %%n\n . directory mask = 0775 logon path = C:\Documents and Settings\%U time server = yes thank you: airween
