Hi, I have running samba 2.0.6 on HP-UX 11.0 since june 2000. Yesterday afternoon most of the users could not connect to samba server shares or the shares were disconnected. One of the smbd-processes grabs more than 97% of the CPU ressource. To avoid time waste I stopped and started samba. Here you see some entrys of the syslog.log file: smbd[15342]: [2000/09/19 14:02:02, 0] locking/shmem.c:(112) smbd[15342]: ERROR smb_shm_global_lock : fcntl_lock failed with code No locks available smbd[15342]: [2000/09/19 14:02:02, 0] locking/shmem.c:(131) smbd[15342]: ERROR smb_shm_global_unlock : shmem not locked : ... above message repeats a lot of times : smbd[18334]: [2000/09/19 14:21:25, 0] smbd/oplock.c:(1202) smbd[18334]: request_oplock_break: no response received to oplock break request to pid 17958 on port 58050 for dev = 40010001, inode 334612 smbd[18334]: for dev = 40010001, inode = 334612, tv_sec = 39c75995, tv_usec = 720cb : ... above message repeats a lot of times : smbd[18642]: Invalid key 262 given to dptr_close smbd[18642]: Invalid key 256 given to dptr_close smbd[18642]: Invalid key 260 given to dptr_close smbd[18642]: Invalid key 257 given to dptr_close smbd[18642]: Invalid key 258 given to dptr_close smbd[18642]: Invalid key 261 given to dptr_close smbd[18642]: Invalid key 259 given to dptr_close : smbd[18833]: [2000/09/19 14:23:06, 0] passdb/smbpassfile.c:(129) smbd[18833]: trust_password_lock: cannot lock file /var/opt/samba/private/SCHULE.UX-02.mac smbd[18833]: [2000/09/19 14:23:06, 0] passdb/smbpassfile.c:(287) smbd[18833]: domain_client_validate: unable to open the machine account password file for machine UX-02 in domain SCHULE. : ... above message repeats a lot of times : smbd[19017]: [2000/09/19 14:24:23, 0] lib/util.c:(906) smbd[19017]: Can't open /dev/null smbd[19017]: [2000/09/19 14:24:23, 0] locking/shmem.c:(826) smbd[19017]: ERROR smb_shm_open : open failed with code File table overflow smbd[19017]: [2000/09/19 14:24:23, 0] locking/locking.c:(174) smbd[19017]: ERROR: Failed to initialise share modes : ... above message repeats a lot of times : If you have an idea what the reason of the problem is, please let me know.
