This may seem like an extremely elementary question, but I'm brand new
to samba...I'm trying to get a single server to work to test whether
samba will work well for what I need. I'm running it on an Ultra Sparc
running Solaris 2.5.2. I start smbd using 'smbd -D -p 26000' (I used a
squirrelly port so that it wouldn't interfere with anything else. This
finds no errors, nor does testparm. Then I try to list the shares by
using 'smbclient -L '\\\\ansel' -p 26000' (my computer's
host name is
ansel.arlut.utexas.edu, so I assume that's it's smb name...). This
returns the following:
>Added interface ip-129.116.176.53 bcast=129.116.255.255
>nmask=255.255.0.0
>Session request failed (0,0) with myname=ANSEL destname=ANSEL
>Unspecified error 0x0
>Your server software is being unfriendly
Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks a lot.
