Folks, We are running samba1.9.17p2 on a Solaris 2.5 box and trying to get some NT4/SP3 workstations talking to it. My problem(s) at the moment are: 1) The first connection to the samba server wants to be authenticated, we want the user just to map the drives using the NT login password. I have done the stuff to enable the encrypted passwords and enabled the same in the smb.conf. I have also set my samba password the same as my domain password but the first time I try to make a connection to the samba server I get a dialogue box back saying my password was incorrect and a prompt for a username and password. If I put in my username and password (the same ones I enter for the domain) then the connection works ok, subsequent connections will connect without further prompting. How can I get rid of this initial dialogue box? I did do a debug trace on smbd and it was saying the same thing - that the username/password pair was invalid :-( 2) My samba servers do not turn up in the network neighbourhood. I have looked in the archives and have changed my workgroup name to no effect. If I search for the computer I can find it and map drives (modulo the above problem) but it never appears in a browse list. How can I rectify this? -- Brett Lymn, Computer Systems Administrator, British Aerospace Australia ============================================================================== What do you get when you cross a cantaloup with a dog?
